Mr. Matthews was founder and Chairman of Great American Title of Houston. Mr. Matthews started the company in 2006 with five employees and grew the company to 175 employees and 13 locations around the Houston Area. He sold Great American Title Co to Stewart Title in 2022. Great American Title Co was the 3rd largest title company in Houston at that time. Mr. Matthews retired from the company March 1, 2024. Prior to starting the title company, Mr. Matthews owned and operated the top producing RE/MAX Legends for 25 years. Mr. Matthews was the #1 RE/MAX Team in Texas for 18 straight years and #2 in the world for RE/MAX several times. In 2017, he sold RE/MAX Legends to his employees. Additionally, Mr. Matthews is a partner in Peron Development, which has developed over 20 subdivisions, the largest being Waterstone, approx. 780 acres and sold 1.5 miles to the Grand Parkway Association in 2010. He is involved with many commercial real estate projects and has ownerships in other active companies. Mr. Matthews previously served on the Board of Directors of Partners Bank of Texas, Commercial State Bank, and on the local Board for First Financial Bank. He and his wife founded the Ronnie & Cathy Matthews Charitable Foundation and Tootsie Dog Rescue Foundation, LLC and have given more than $4,000,000.00 to charitable causes.
