In October, Citizens State Bank (CSB) hosted its first fraud seminar in the main lobby of its Woodville branch. The seminar included several distinguished guest speakers, including District Attorney Lucas Babin and Officer Thompson from the Fraud Division.
Seminar attendees were taught about various types of scams, techniques for identifying and preventing them, and how to report fraud incidents. They also learned about the importance of community awareness and vigilance in combating fraud.
“Education is our first line of defense,” said District Attorney Babin.
In his seminar, District Attorney Babin highlighted real-life examples of scams and the legal measures in place to counteract them.
Officer Thompson engaged the audience with interactive scenarios by demonstrating how easy it is to fall victim to fraud as well as offering practical safety tips to prevent fraud.
During the seminar, participants were encouraged to ask questions and share their experiences, fostering an open dialogue about the challenges they’ve experienced in today’s digital age.
Attendees were treated to Chick-fil-A meals as part of a collaboration with Chick-fil-A and received educational materials and brochures to take home.
Many attendees also took pictures with the Chick-fil-A cow, who made a special guest appearance at the event.
This special event strengthened the community’s resolve against fraud and paved the way for future events aimed at keeping the public informed and protected.
